Babs Gons is a writer, performer and theatre producer. She set up the Poetry Circle Nowhere platform to bring together Dutch writing performers and performing writers. Gons can also be considered a spoken word pioneer and she regularly treads the boards herself with her own poems.
Hannah Lavery is a writer and performer experienced in delivering creative writing and poetry workshops.
She has been part of many spoken word nights including, Flint and Pitch, Sonnet Youth, Chill Habibi and has also performed at Electric Fields, CoastWord, the Gutter Magazine Party, Solas and Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival.
Her stories, poems and blogs have published in a variety of different publications including Gutter Magazine, The Scottish Book Trust and 404 ink.
Moritz Konrad, born in 1995 in Heidelberg, is a visual artists, slam poet and host. First stage performance in 2012, since 2013 participation in the German Under 20 Championship and the championship of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg. 2017 he took part in the German Poetry Slam-Championship for the first time. With his text ‘Sustainability’, he won the championship of the Rhine-Neckar region in 2019.
Larry D. Moore II is a middle school English, theater and speech teacher, teaching artist and musician out of Des Moines, Iowa. After an early start in performing by way of church and the Des Moines Youth Choir, he went on to Roosevelt high school where he was a three year All-State tenor and a member of the chamber and show choirs while participating in drama productions and competing in speech events as a part of the drama club. During his bachelor’s work at Truman State, Larry was a part of an innovative, small Gospel group called OneVoice and became a staple in the thriving slam poetry scene. Since his Masters in Education from Drake University, Larry has coached and mentored poetry students and teams, taught classes from pre school to hip-hop camps and continues to act, perform and compete as a part of his artistic communities.
Matt Miller is a poet, theatre maker and workshop facilitator who writes about place, identity and belonging and, on one occasion, going to Mars forever. In 2014, Matt was selected as one of The BBC’s Verb New Voices and is the current Derby Poetry Festival Slam Champion. They have been praised by Ian McMillan (The Verb) for ‘dramatic powers of urban storytelling’. Matt recently worked as a lead artist on Emerge, a project which aims to give young people a creative voice, working with young artists in Mansfield to set up an arts festival in April 2019. Matt’s current theatre show Fitting explores cross-dressing, with storytelling, physical theatre and stage magic, and will be touring the UK in Autumn 2019 to Spring 2020.
Véronica Rioux is a spoken word artist, community organization worker and Biodanza facilitator based in Quebec City. All of her occupations merge into common values: a deep concern for social and ecological issues and a profound respect for life, through both action and words. She has been captivated by the Slam poetry scene since 2007 and has won the Quebec City championship three times, including the 2019 edition with her creation Sexxx Ed. She has been invited twice to the Québec-France Slam contest and has seen her work published in Slam anthologies.
Maris Pedaja is the winner of Tartu Poetry Slam TarSlämm 2019. The poem ‘Skin and Fleas’ was part of the international project Borderlines and performed on the 29th of March 2019 at the Literature House of Tartu.
Maris Pedaja is a dreamer, adventure seeker and climate activist. She is curious about the world and her heart belongs to the wilderness – her close ones suspect that she has a bit of Robinson Crusoe in her blood. She loves autumn, peppermint tea and fresh raspberries. Playing with words helps her to milden the reality and float in between the daily life and magical realism.
